At the Wizards & Warriors School Break Adventures, campers start their week on Monday designing a character, complete with history, culture, and special skills. Then, for the entire week, the campers (now called “Defenders”) will engage in live role playing scenarios, exciting foam sword battles, and challenging plots with our Staff. You can’t get much more engaging than our ongoing storyline where your child plays a part in determining the outcome…and the next session picks up where the last one left off!
Our entire event is designed to challenge campers with scenarios that require teamwork, creative problem solving, negotiation skills, learning about the environment, bravery, imagination, and more. Through creative role play, campers don’t just learn valuable life skills – they get to actively practice them! This practice time allows a deeper level of understanding and retention.
As well, campers have the opportunity to interact with our “Living Characters” from History, Mythology and Literature. What this means is that kids and teens have the chance to learn about historical figures like Hippocrates, mythological beings like the Manitou, or characters from literature such as Captain Ahab by interacting with our professional actors who portray them. Our actors heavily research these characters so as to portray them (and their time period) as accurately as possible.
We all know that stories are one of the best vehicles for teaching since they capture our attention; but interactive stories spark our creativity.
